Hardwood Floors are easy to clean, the hard smooth surface holds less allergen such as pollen, pet hair and dander. Wood floors can last and look beautiful for a lifetime and increase the value of your home.
We have OUR OWN FLOOR INSTALLERS on staff with years of experience. They have the skills to design wood rugs, boarders and inlays to customize your room.
UN-FINISHED flooring is traditional and timeless in any home. We offer a variety of domestic and exotic species. Installation of an un-finished floor and finishing it in place gives you the smoothest surface and eliminates the bevel look of the pre-finished wood flooring.
PRE-FINISHED FLOORING offers a harder finish than can be produced on an un-finished wood floor. The installation can often be DUST FREE and the floor can be used immediately after installation. Pre-finished floors can be sanded like a traditional hardwood floor and damaged boards can easily be replaced. We offer flooring that is milled by the best manufacturers to ensure quality (Mirage, Somerset, Lauzon).
RADIANT HEAT is a heating system that has gained popularity in the Northeast. Yes, you can install hardwood floors over radiant heat. We recommend ¼ sawn cut flooring over radiant heat; this increases the floor stability by 30%. In addition we offer engineered floating and glue down floors that has approved use over radiant heat.
CUSTOM RUN FLOORING is an option for unique homes and you can specify the grade, width and lengths.
ACCLIMATION of your hardwood floor is the most important factor in a successful installation. We follow the National Wood Flooring Associations guidelines for flooring installation and acclimation procedures. Your flooring must have seventy-two (72) hours of acclimation and the flooring and the sub floor must be within 4% points of each other’s moisture content. See more information on the purchase decision for your new hardwood flooring. Information on the hardness of various wood species.
Refinishing Hardwood Floors
We employ our own sanding & finishing crews to ensure quality work. We follow National Wood Flooring Association’s guidelines for floor finishing. We take special care to reduce dust by using modern “state of the Art” equipment and providing dust containment tarps. We use hard finishes that meet all EPA regulations. We offer polyurethane in oil or water base, Danish oil and tongue oils. We can customize stain colors to meet your needs.
Guidelines For Maintaining Your Hardwood Floor:
Daily maintenance will require keeping your floor free from grit and dirt that can break down the surface finish. We recommend dust mopping your floor or using the "soft" attachement to your vacuum for daily cleaning. Once a week use a cleaner that is made exclusively for wood floors. We recommend Bona Kemi products. It is important to use their terri-cloth towel. DO NOT USE SOAP OR WAX ON YOUR HARDWOOD FLOORING, THESE PRODUCTS WILL PRODUCE A BUILD UP ON YOUR FLOOR.
Wood Flooring will perform better when your interior environment is controlled to stay within a relative humidity ranging from 30 to 50 percent and temperature maintained between 60 to 80 degrees. This will avoid excessive movement of your wood flooring.
